Shahid Afridi Advises to Resign Babar Azam as T20I Captain
Shahid Afridi (former Pakistan captain) suggested that Babar Azam, the all-format captain abandon T20I captaincy to focus on his batting.
A member of the 2009 T20 World Cup winning team stated that Pakistan has many options, including Shadab Khan and Mohammad Rizwan who are capable of leading the T20I team.
Afridi spoke to the media and said that Babar Azam should step down as captain of the T20I team and concentrate on his batting. There are other players who could lead the T20I team, such as Rizwan, Shadab and Shan.
After a disappointing performance in the Asia Cup 2022 in Dubai, Babar Azam’s personal contribution to the team was in the spotlight. He managed to score 68 runs over six innings and an average of 11.33.
It is important to mention that the Men in Green were able to qualify for the T20 World Cup 2021 semi finals, Asia Cup 2022 and T20 World Cup-2022 finals under Babar Azam’s leadership.
Lahore-born cricketer, is also the most successful captain for Pakistan’s T20I side. He has won 40 of the 66 matches with a success rate 65.57 percent.
