Islamabad Police Fines 5,000  Issues Over to Pressure Horn Users

Islamabad Capital Territory Police has issued 5,296 fines to vehicles using pressure horns in the current fiscal year. This information was provided by the department’s PR officer. According to him, Islamabad’s capital police will take strict action against those vehicles that pollute the environment or use pressure horns, as per Dr. Akbar Nasir Khan’s directives. ICTP also fined 2862 vehicles for emitted smoke. IGP directed Zonal DSPs to take tough action against pollution-causing vehicles. This campaign will be personally supervised by Chief Traffic Officer (CTO), ICTP.

To combat smoke-emitting cars, the department has created mobile squads. Police have established dedicated squads to inspect vehicles and issue fines to those who cause noise or other forms environmental pollution.

Speed Limit Revision

The Islamabad Capital Territory Police has revised the speed limits for various roads and highways within Islamabad. The department advised the public not to exceed the speed limits, or they would be sent an e-challan.

The announcement stated that the speed limit for light transport vehicles (LTV) on Srinagar Highway and Islamabad Highway and Murree Road would be 80 km/h and 65 km/h respectively for heavy transport vehicles (HTV).

In addition, the notification stated that the speed limit at Constitution Avenue and Jinnah Avenue, Faisal Avenue and Khayaban-e-Iqbal’s Park Road, 7th Avenue and 9th Avenue is now 70 km/h (for LTVs) and 65 km/h (for HTVs).

The speed limit for Islamabad’s streets and sectoral roads has been reduced to 30 km/h by ICTP for LTV and 25km/h for HTV. This is especially important for those living near schools and hospitals. It will monitor all vehicles using Safe City Cameras, and send fines to those who violate it.
