Elon Musk : Twitter is Getting Voice and Video Chat Soon

Twitter is getting voice and video chat soon. The new Twitter CEO Elon Musk has made it clear previously that he would like to enhance the direct messaging feature. In a recent gathering of Twitter employees, he revealed what’s to be coming to Twitter’s DMs.

According to a tape of the conference, which was obtained through The Vergethe meeting was called “Twitter 2.0” at the company’s San Fransico headquarters on Monday. Musk informed the employees Twitter will use encrypted DMs as well as voice chats and video chats all within direct messages.

He stated:

We want users to to talk without worrying about their privacy ornot be concerned about the possibility of a breach on Twitter which could cause all their DMs to be published on the internet or even think that some one on Twitter might be watching their DMs. This isn’t going to be a good thing and has been seen before.

Musk is absolutely right in adding additional security to DMs. In the year 2018, an unspecified number of DMs between businesses and customers were made public on the internet for more than an entire year. Furthermore an employee of Twitter was accused with a criminal charge by the US government for unauthorized access to information of users on behalf of Saudi Arabia. It is unclear what exactly happened to these DMs were utilized.

Musk states that nobody should be able to gaze at anyone’s DMs even by putting a gun to their head.

It’s not the first time Twitter has been working on the encryption of DMs. The project has begun and stopped multiple times in the past however, the company has decided Musk believes that his Twitter 2.0 strategy should include encryption as the top priority.
